I used to think copying was wrong because someone spent a lot of work on their piece and copying mocks their ideas.
After this unit, I learned nothing is truly original. If you copy because you love the art piece it is a form of flattery. I didn't realize I actually have been completly copying when I draw from the art I have collected in Pintrest. I was doing it to practice my skills because I adored the way the original artist's art ended up. Sometimes you copy because you love the subject the artist chose and you tweek it a bit so a part of you is expressed. I have never drawn someone I know well, so I decided to try to paint my sister. In class, we learned about porportions. I found out the mouth is 1/3 of the bottom part of the face. I also explored painting skin color. First you have to mix red, yellow, and a touch of brown. You take a little bit of the mixture and put it in 5 different places. Then you add different amounts of white to each place. Then you have different shades of the same skin color. This is the first portrait I have done a background for. A dog walking by moved it to the right. A little girl ran up and dribbled it down the road, but she didn't put the ball through the goal. Only one little boy got the ball through the goal. Yay for him! |
